Linville Gorge
Driving directions to Linville Gorge Wilderness Area:
There are 2 sides of Linville Gorge to access; the West side, and the East side.
To access the West side of Linville Gorge:
From Boone, take highway 105 South to Linville. At highway 221, take a right to follow South. After you pass thru a 45-mph zone, you will notice highway 181 on your left. Take a left to follow highway 181 South. Travel for several miles. The Blue Ridge Parkway will parallel 181 at one point. You will see highway 183 on your right. Take a right onto highway 183. This curvy road will lead you under the Blue Ridge Parkway eventually, and keep an eye out on your left for a brown and yellow sign that says ‘Wiseman’s View.’ Take this left to access the West-side trails of Linville Gorge.
To access the East side of Linville Gorge:
From Boone, take highway 105 South to Linville. At highway 221, take a right to follow South. After you pass thru a 45-mph zone, you will notice highway 181 on your left. Take a left to follow highway 181 South. Travel for several miles. The Blue Ridge Parkway will parallel 181 at one point. You will see highway 183 on your right. Continue South on 181. Shortly, you will notice a brown and yellow sign that says ‘Table Rock.’ Take this right. You will follow signs until the road turns to gravel. Then consult your map as to which trailhead you’re looking for.
