Moses Cone Park
Driving directions to Moses Cone hiking trails:
There are 3 access points for the Moses Cone trail system. One is on the Blue Ridge Parkway, which accesses the Manor house. Another access is from highway 221, which accesses the trail system from Bass Lake. The last is from Shulls Mill Road, which accesses the trail system from Trout Lake. To access Moses Cone trails from the Blue Ridge Parkway:
From Boone, drive South on highway 321/221. Before you reach Blowing Rock, you will see the Blue Ridge Parkway cross the highway. Take the Blue Ridge Parkway South. In only a couple of miles you will climb to the top of a long hill, at which is the parking area for Moses Cone estate.
To access Moses Cone trails from highway 221:
From Boone, drive South on highway 321/221. When you reach Blowing Rock, take a right to follow Business 321/221 into the downtown area. The next stoplight you reach will indicate that highway 221 splits to the South. Take a right to follow highway 221 South. In less than a mile, you will see a drive on your right that accesses the parking area for the Bass Lake trail system of Moses Cone. The last access point is found by continuing on highway 221 South. In around 2 miles or so, you will see where you can intersect the Blue Ridge Parkway. At this spot, Shulls Mill Road also goes underneath the Blue Ridge Parkway. Take this right, and follow Shulls Mill Road. You will immediately see a drive down and to the right, which accesses the parking area for the Trout Lake trail system of Moses Cone.
