Wilson Creek in Fall Color

There are 2 main access roads into the Wilson Creek Wilderness Area from Boone.  View a map to see what other access points that are convenient from other areas.  One is Roseboro Road out of Linville, and the other is Jonas Ridge Road from the Blue Ridge Parkway.

To Roseboro Road:

From Boone, take highway 105 South to Linville.  At highway 221, continue another 1/10 of a mile on highway 105.  You will arrive at a 4-way stop sign, which is also the intersection of highway 105 and Roseboro Road (spelled Roseborough Road on some maps).  Take a left onto Roseboro Road.  You will intersect the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Continue across the Blue Ridge Parkway;  Roseboro Road turns to gravel.  Continue down in elevation on Roseboro Road.  You will notice Big and Little Lost Cove Cliffs.  Roseboro Road delivers you into the ‘Lost Cove’ area of Wilson Creek Wilderness Area.  View your map at this point to pinpoint which trailhead you want to access.

To Old Jonas Ridge Road:

From Boone, take highway 105 South to Linville.  At highway 221, continue another 1/10 of a mile on highway 105.  You will arrive at a 4-way stop sign, which is also the intersection of highway 105 and Roseboro Road.  Take a left onto Roseboro Road.  You will intersect the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Take a right onto the Blue Ridge Parkway.  In 2.3 miles on your left you will see Old Jonas Ridge Road, a gravel road at the end of a wooden fence.  After a short distance on this gravel road, you will notice a white church on your left.  Bear left here, and the incorrectly seems to follow to the right.  You will see a sign for Big Lost Cove Cliffs on your left.  Consult your map for which area you are headed.
