The History Behind Footsloggers

Since July of 1971, Footsloggers has served the outdoor community. By focusing on items that we would purchase for ourselves, we have a selection of quality goods that offers great value and a long life of use. We offer clothing and gear that will keep you comfortable in any season, for any adventure. Our product buyers work on the sales floor daily; this is an important note, as we feel that there is no better way to serve our loyal customers and stay in tune to their needs.

The name “footslogger” can be found in Roget’s Thesaurus under the verb “walk.” It is a World War II term meaning “to march or tramp through mud.” The title was given to us by our good friend Paul Daimler, who now resides in Connecticut. We still can’t think of a better name.

We are in the business of fun. One can enjoy any adventure on any continent if (s)he is properly outfitted. We take outfitting seriously, with our customers’ comfort and safety always in mind. As our name suggests, outfitting begins with footwear. For those who walk the walk, our boot department is the long and the short of it. Whether you are hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway, backpacking the Appalachian Trail or negotiating a mountain stream, you can walk miles in our shoes. Our fit is guaranteed, so you can feel confident that we are serving you the way you deserve. Custom-fitting footwear is a lost art in today’s self-service footwear stores. We know our footwear and we know how to custom-fit according to your size and foot type.

We have customers come in all the time to share their adventures with us and drop off photos of gear they purchased from Footsloggers getting dirty. Our diverse staff has quite a list of accomplishments and endeavors to publish, and they are all excited to help you write some new stories in your journal as well.
