LET’S CLEAN OUR NEW RIVER IN WV!

National Committee for the New RiverNational Committee for the New River will be hosting a clean-up of the New River in Hinton this Saturday, August 14, from 8AM until noon. We will be meeting at the point in Bellepoint (between the two bridges) at 8AM and cleaning our
way to just below Tug Creek rapid (take out on river left). The river is wide here so we hope to have lots of boats and people to cover the whole river. NCNR and the National Park Service will have boats to haul the trash collected but individuals will need their own boats, so bring your canoes, kayaks, and cata-rafts and lifejackets. If you don’t have a boat
but would like to participate, please let us know and I’ll make arrangements
for you to participate by boat or by land. There are several river-side
spots which can be easily accessed from the road to allow for non-water
participants. Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind
getting wet and dirty. Please also remember to bring plenty of water and a
snack. NCNR will provide trash bags and gloves and a boat to haul it all
away.
