PCIA Certification
The Professional Climbing Instructors Association (PCIA) began in 2007 to fill a niche in the climbing community with courses that provide comprehensive exposure to fundamental climbing knowledge and instructional skills for individuals who teach in climbing gyms, toprope, and single pitch environments. The curriculum includes training and credentialing designed to help new climbers and climbing instructors gain access to accurate and consistent information, and to utilize safer, more efficient techniques that are environmentally friendly. Sequentially designed instructional programs recognize the similarities and differences between artificial structures and various rocksite settings.
- Climbing Wall Instructor w/ optional Lead Climbing endorsement (2.5 days)
- Base Managed Climbing Instructor (3 days + 1 day exam)
- Top Managed Climbing Instructor (1 day)
- Single Pitch Climbing Instructor (1 day)
