Basic Rock Climbing
Rock Dimensions offers top-roping programs that focus on the skills and unique experience of climbing outdoors on real rock cliffs. No experience is required.
Beginner and intermediate trips are available at locations in the Piedmont and Mountains of North Carolina. Participants will have the opportunity to learn climbing knots, terminology, climbing movement, rappelling and belaying.
Half-day Climbing
The half-day climbing trip is offered at locations close to Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk. This trip is a great introduction for anyone who has the desire to experience climbing on real rock. For individuals who have never climbed at all, or have just had experience on artificial climbing structures, this trip is accessible to almost anyone. Climbing sites are a short drive and short hike in to the rock.
Full-day Climbing
The hike, scenic views, and natural environment combine with physical challenges for the total experience! Trips range from instructional to purely recreational. Trips are suitable for beginners and for those with some experience in an artificial setting or top-rope climbing in a natural environment. Climbing and rappelling in the wildly beautiful Linville Gorge and Wilson Creek can be the highlight of your vacation!
Tower to Rock
Tower to Rock is a full day program combining the 2-hour instructional course at the climbing tower with the half-day climbing trip. The morning is spent at the Footsloggers Climbing Tower learning knots, terminology, belaying, and some basic climbing movement. The afternoon makes the transition onto real rock, applying the skills learned at the tower to a natural rock site. The day includes the optional belay skills test for the Footsloggers climbing tower, useful for individuals who plan to come back to the climbing tower for more climbing with family or friends.
Tower to Rock is also ideal for those who plan to join a climbing gym back home and want to learn skills that will transfer to their local climbing venue.
The Tower to Rock can be a great place for families, allowing parents and teens to learn belay skills while younger family members become familiar and comfortable with climbing prior to heading out to the rock site.
