This July Mountain Alliance’s Rolling Academy will depart on an incredible adventure of discovery for its fourth consecutive summer. This leadership academy is a “rolling” academy using a bus not only for transportation but also as a classroom and a base camp. Each year the expedition takes students on a variety of new adventures and learning experiences in many new and different places. Last year students found themselves in New York running a 5k for the American Cancer Society, West Virginia doing a 200ft rappel, and Pennsylvania working on an Amish dairy farm. Though the full itinerary is kept under wraps, participants this year can expect to challenge themselves on a journey of westward expansion. 10 Watauga High School students were invited to participate after an application and interview process with the Rolling Academy Scholarship Committee back in March. Since then they have been getting to know each other and preparing for 14 days of growth through perspective, challenge, confidence and opportunity.
